Major Deliverables of GO-GLOBAL
• To develop a sustainable and functioning Global Platform on Emerging Food Safety Risks that promotes and facilitates international cooperation between key actors and networks in this area.
• To analyse current national and international food safety systems regarding emerging risk identification and to identify both opportunities and shortcomings in research activities and knowledge.
• To take due account of the opinions of geographically and culturally diverse stakeholders regarding emerging food safety risks, and integrate these into a global system of emerging risk identification.
• To obtain a reliable consensus of opinion from a global expert group regarding emerging food safety risks, with regard to integrating existing knowledge and resources, identifying gaps in knowledge to provide input for the development of common research agenda.
• To develop a global strategy for the systematic classification and
evaluation of research activities and policiesregarding emerging risks in the food and feed chain.• To identify where duplication in effort is being applied, and to harmonise and streamline ongoing initiatives, as well as those under development, in collaboration with research sponsors and funding bodies.
• To develop a strategic research agenda based on priorities identified within the Global Platform on Emerging Food Safety Risks.
• To initiate joint research activities to fill in the knowledge and data gaps that limits the usefulness of current risk assessment efforts.
• To stimulate exchange of information regarding emerging food and feed risk issues, and to disseminate, among others via an Internet-based forum, where information about emerging risks issues can be found.
